Privacy Policy

1. Data Controller

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data:

  • Purchases and licensing: Stripe processes payment details. MAP Audio stores the customer, order, license, activation, entitlement, and download records needed to fulfil and support purchases in Cloudflare-hosted systems. Legacy records may remain with Moonbase during the migration and rollback period. MAP Audio does not store full payment-card details.
  • Support emails: If you contact us at support@map.audio, we retain your email address and correspondence to provide support.
  • Optional emails: If you opt in, we store your email address, name if supplied, confirmation state, and separate newsletter and product-update choices. Resend delivers confirmation and account messages; Mailchimp stores the campaign audience and sends optional newsletters and product updates. Existing preferences may remain with Moonbase during migration.
  • Website analytics and advertising data: When you visit map.audio, we and our third-party providers (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta) collect IP address, browser and device information, page URLs, referrer, click identifiers (such as fbclid), and engagement events (page views, add-to-cart, checkout, purchase). Where available, a hashed version of your email address is shared with Meta server-side via the Conversions API to measure ad performance. This data is used to understand site usage and to measure and improve our advertising campaigns.

PAM and MFX desktop software send limited licensing error reports to help us resolve activation and trial failures. Reports contain the product and version, operating-system family, licensing operation, error category, HTTP status, timestamp, and a random report reference. The report payload contains no email address, license key, sign-in code, machine identifier, audio, preset, or project data. Cloudflare processes these reports; a hash of the connection IP address is used to limit abuse. Reports may trigger an internal support email.

Pending reports are stored locally for retry after a connection failure. They expire after seven days and are removed when the software next runs. The desktop software does not track your music-making activity. The website analytics and advertising described above apply to map.audio only.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Contract performance: Processing purchase and licensing data is necessary to fulfil your order and provide the software license (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR).
  • Legitimate interest: Processing support correspondence to resolve your queries (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
  • Consent: Sending newsletters and product updates, which you may unsubscribe from at any time (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).

4. Third-Party Processors

  • Stripe: Processes checkout, payments, tax calculation, refunds, subscriptions, and the hosted billing portal. See Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.): Delivers sign-in codes, license emails, and email-preference confirmations. See Resend Privacy Policy.
  • Intuit Mailchimp: Stores confirmed campaign contacts, preference tags, and purchase records used for optional email campaigns and revenue attribution. Existing unsubscribe and cleaned-contact states are preserved during migration. See Intuit Privacy Statement.
  • Moonbase: Continues to process legacy purchase, license, and communication records during the controlled migration and rollback period. See Moonbase Privacy Policy.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd: The Meta Pixel and Conversions API run on map.audio for advertising measurement and targeting on Facebook and Instagram. Data shared: page views, add-to-cart, checkout, purchase events, IP address, browser ID (_fbp cookie), click ID (_fbc cookie), user agent, and a SHA-256 hash of email address where available.   • Google Ireland Limited: Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager run on map.audio for site analytics and conversion measurement. Data shared: page URLs, referrer, IP address (truncated where supported), browser ID (_ga, _ga_* cookies), and engagement events. See Google Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare, Inc.: Hosts map.audio and the in-house customer, licensing, order, preference, and download systems. It also provides content delivery and DDoS protection and may process IP address and request metadata. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • YouTube embeds: This website embeds video content from YouTube (Google). These embeds may set cookies and collect usage data according to their respective privacy policies when you interact with embedded content.

5. Data Retention

Support correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to resolve your query and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference. Optional email preferences are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Purchase, tax, fraud, order, and licensing records are retained for contract performance, support, security, and applicable legal requirements. Legacy records remain subject to Moonbase's retention policy while that service is part of the migration and rollback path.

6. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate personal data
  • Erase your personal data (right to be forgotten)
  • Restrict processing of your personal data
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@map.audio. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. International Data Transfers

Stripe, Cloudflare, Resend, Moonbase, Google, Meta, and YouTube may process data outside the UK. Their linked privacy notices describe their transfer mechanisms and safeguards. MAP Audio uses applicable contractual and legal transfer safeguards with its processors.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

map.audio uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising. The cookies set on this site are:

  • _fbp — Meta browser identifier used for advertising and conversion measurement. First-party, retention up to 90 days.
  • _fbc — Meta click identifier set when arriving from a Facebook/Instagram ad. First-party, retention up to 90 days.
  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics identifiers used to distinguish unique visitors. First-party, retention up to two years.
  • _gcl_au — Google Ads conversion linker. First-party, retention up to 90 days.
  • map_audio_session — essential, HttpOnly account sign-in cookie, retained for up to seven days.
  • map_audio_communications — essential, HttpOnly credential used to manage optional email preferences, retained for up to one year.

Third-party embeds (YouTube) may set their own cookies when you interact with embedded content, in accordance with their own policies.

Your choices: You can block or delete cookies via your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can manage Meta ad preferences in your Facebook ad settings. If you are in the UK or EU, you may withdraw consent at any time and we will stop sending advertising data to Meta and Google.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date. Continued use of the website or software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
