# getFile

`GET https://api.map.audio/v1/files/{id}`

Get a file

One file's metadata: kind, status, name, content type, size, SHA-256, the job that wrote it and when retention deletes it. For its bytes, GET /v1/files/{id}/content. Free.

Auth: `Authorization: Bearer` with an API key or a map.audio access token. MCP tool: `get_file`.

## Parameters

## Responses

- `200`: The file.
- `404`: Not found
- `default`: Any other error: `error.code` names it, `error.param` the field at fault, and `error.docUrl` its entry in the error catalogue.
